FC Platinum clinches second silveware - Uhuru cup

FC Platinum goalkeeper, Tafadzwa Dube produced a master class of penalty saves that guided FC Platinum to a 4-1 penalty shoot-out victory over Motor Action in an Independence Cup Final at the National Sports Stadium.

The match had ended 1-all in regulation time, forcing a penalty shoot-out.

Motor Action took the lead in the 11th minute after Norman Maroto exhibited a master class of deadly finishing that saw him clinically opening the scoring with his left foot.

With first half action an evenly contested affair, the encounter went to halftime with the Mighty Bulls leading 1-nil.

Maroto could have added a second early on in the second half but somehow misdirected his header with the goal at his mercy.

With the Mighty Bulls looking set to lift the coveted Uhuru Trophy, a dramatic turn of events saw FC Platinum grabbing a late equaliser as Qadr Amini fired home in the 93rd minute to send the game into penalty shootouts.

An impressive goalkeeping display saw FC Platinum goal minder Tafadzwa Dube making 3 penalty saves that handed Kugona Kunenge Kudada a 4-1 victory.

The victory which was marked by wild celebrations from the FC Platinum camp, handed the Zvishavane based side their second piece of silverware after also clinching the BOB @88 Trophy following a victory over Hwange in February.

In a 3rd and 4th place play-off match played at Barbourfields in Bulawayo, Dynamos were beaten by Hwange 4-3 on penalties.
