 - In order for you to answer the above question you have to be able to answer the following fundamental questions.

FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS

  - Which were the prophetic duties of Moses?
  - Who was Elijah ?  - Which were the prophetic duties of Elijah?
  - Do we have any similarities?
  - Why Elijah has been liken to Moses?
  - Who was Johane Masowe and what did he do ?
  - Who is Emmanuel Makandiwa and why is he liken to Johane Masowe?

ANSWERS
- The reason why Elijah has been regarded as the second Moses it's because of similarities between Elijah and Moses .For instance

®Moses confronted King Pharaoh so as to free the Israelites which where oppressed on daily basis. This is indicated in Exodus 5:1.Elijah the Tishbite confronted King Ahab over Naboth's vineyard. This is indicated in 1 Kings 21:17 .The point in this is case is that Elijah confronted the King just like Moses, therefore one will be forced to regard Elijah as the second Moses as there are similarities when confronting Kings is concerned.

®Moses after killing the Egyptian fled to the wilderness as he was fearing for his life .This is recorded in Exodus 2:15.This is also similar to Elijah who fled to the wilderness after butchering the Baal prophets,as he was fearing for his life .1Kings 19:4 will support the above work. The point in this case is that Elijah feared for his life just like Moses as a result he went to the wilderness, therefore, this will lead one to regard Elijah as the second Moses.

®Moses fasted for 40 days and 40 nights at Mt Sinai as he was renewing the Mosaic covenant which had been established years back. The fastings of Moses at Mt Sinai,is recorded in Exodus 34:38.This is also similar to Elijah who fasted for 40 days at Mt Horeb after butchering the 450 Baal prophets. This is indicated in 1 Kings 19:7-18.The main point in this case is that Elijah fasted 40 days at Mt Horeb just like Moses ,therefore,at this stage it is not prudent to ignore the view that Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses.

®The cave which was used by Moses at Sinai,It is the same cave which Elijah used to hid for Jezebel after butchering her prophets at Mt Carmel,it is recorded in 1 Kings 19:10-15.One will understand that there are similarities between these two prophets when using a cave is concerned, hence, one will be making violence on a plain text if the view that Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses is ignored.

N.B
There are number of so many points which can be used to justify the view that Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses.

HOWEVER PART

 - As much as Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses because of the number of similarities between these two ,it will be miscarriage of justice to totally regard Elijah as the second Moses since there are minor differences between these two prophets. The differences will be demonstrated below

a)Moses was a monotheist because he fought for monotheism when he destroyed the golden calf ,this is indicated in Exodus 32:15 whilst Elijah was a henotheist because he fought for Yahwehism in 1 Kings 18:36-42 (Note that there is a difference between monotheism and Yahwehism).Basing on this it is clear that Elijah does not totally deserve to be regarded as the second Moses as there are number of differences.

b)The fact that our primary source doesn't regard Elijah as the second Moses ,this disqualify the view that Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses.

ZIMBABWEAN CONTEXT

®Masowe during the early days of his ministry was against evil practises, this is the reason why he went on to burn "mishonga and charms" of the wizards and nyangas .This is according to the book of Dillion entitled "dramatization of Johane Masowe" This is believed to have happened around 1940s.This is also similar to Makandiwa who was against witchcraft during early days of his ministry, this is evidenced by discouraging his church on partaking in such practices.Makandiwa also attacked the "na'angas " and exorcising just like Johane Masowe. Therefore, this will lead one to regard Makandiwa as the second Johane Masowe to a certain degree.

HOWEVER PART
®As much as Makandiwa can be regarded as Johane Masowe because of the similarities between these two,it can be suggested that Makandiwa doesn't totally deserve to be regarded as the second Masowe since the two have differences

N.B
 - We all know the differences between these two ,hence, the writer won't waste much time .

DEMANDS OF THE QUESTION
- Justify the view that Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses and giving the extent on Zimbabwean context  - Using writer's angle Elijah deserve to be regarded as the second Moses and In Zimbabwean context Makandiwa to a lesser extent can be regarded as the second Johane Masowe.
