Bulawayo woman appeals for financial assistance

A 21-year-old Bulawayo woman is appealing for financial assistance to take her daughter who has a ruptured bladder for a scan. The girl was hit by a car last year in an accident that left her with a damaged bladder. She was supposed to have gone for the scan five months ago.

The girl's father is not employed and they have been failing to raise $560 required for the scan.

The accident, which left three-year-old Nozipho Mlilo with a ruptured bladder, occurred in February last year along 6th Avenue in Bulawayo.

Young Nozipho, the only daughter of Ms Silibaziso Zondo of Mahatshula, now uses a urinary tube as her bladder is dysfunctional.

Narrating her ordeal to Chronicle on Monday, Ms Zondo said her daughter was living a difficult life because she had to use artificial urinary tubes.

She said she was desperate and this was compounded by the fact that the person responsible for her daughter's condition was not helping.

"My daughter and grandmother were hit by a commuter omnibus in February last year and they were both injured. My daughter sustained a ruptured bladder and my grandmother sustained a broken leg and she can no longer walk," said Ms Zondo.

"The police did not do much as the person responsible was not charged and we did not get any compensation.

"A policeman, Sergeant Muchemwa, ordered me to stop pursuing the case saying the person was not guilty and I should not force him to compensate us and I have been struggling to get medication for my daughter and grandmother."
She said the scan would be done locally so that she could go for an operation.

"I am appealing to members of the public to help me raise the money so that my child can go for the scan. I have failed to talk to the owners of the vehicle that hit my daughter and it seems the police cannot help me," said Ms Zondo.
