The University of Zimbabwe fundraising dinner held on the 28th of last month raised more than US$12 million, surpassing the US$10 million target for that dinner.

The 'Support Your University Campaign,' which is being spearheaded by the Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Arthur Mutambara, raised US$7,722 million in pledges from the corporate world while government is set to inject US$5 million.

Briefing the media in Harare, Professor Mutambara said the process is on-going hence the need for other stakeholders to come forward in assisting the university.

Private sector representatives at the meeting indicated their willingness to work with the institution of higher learning, indicating that they are making their pledges any time soon.

The University of Zimbabwe requires US$70 million towards the construction of other relevant infrastructure and improving standards in various departments.
