A Nigerian religious leader, Prophet T. B Joshua, has predicted that the death of President John Evans Atta Mills will bring about unexplained unity among the political class and the rest of Ghanaians.

Making his first public statement about the death of President Mills at a church service in Nigeria Sunday, Prophet Joshua, known for his predictions and prophecies, said there would also be a revolution in governance in Ghana.

The service was monitored on Emmanuel TV carried by the Crystal TV in Accra yesterday and was attended by Mr Samuel Kofi Atta Mills, son of former President Mills, as well as some members of his family.

A minute's silence was observed in memory of President Mills.

The Nigerian prophet was known to have had very close relationship with former President Mills.

He is said to have predicted the election of Professor Mills as President of the Republic of Ghana in 2008.

According to Prophet Joshua, the son of former President Mills had requested to attend church service at the Synagogue Church in Nigeria yesterday to celebrate his father.

Preaching the sermon, Prophet Joshua said, "this is a prophetic word: Our father is a martyr. Those legacies he left behind will prove to you that he is a martyr as time goes on - there will be revolution in governance and unexplained unity among the political class."

Former President Mills, he said, was now at a place because he led a good life and many would wish to be there.

"President Mills was a good man but could not do all the good works for Ghana all alone.”

According to Prophet Joshua, before he died, former President Mills knew that he was leaving the world into eternity.

"The departure of our father was as it should be by divine will. It was unchangeable. I saw it right from the beginning of the journey, and I prayed in closet and in congregation, which I shared with you in a form of prayer, and discussed with him one-on-one, the vision, and that has been a guide that sustained him before his glorious exit.

"Ask people around him, they will tell you that he knew he was going home.

"I used to celebrate his birthday on Emmanuel TV. If you take note, this last birthday was not shown because our father was more of heaven before birthday," he said.

Looking ahead, Prophet Joshua, said "death is not a period - it is only a comma - because of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection."

He referred to former President Mills as his father, and extended his condolences to the former First Lady, Dr Ernestina Naadu Mills, the family and the rest of Ghanaians.

"Here, my heart goes to the wife, son, family and well wishers. Celebrate our father, not mourn because it was a life well spent," he said.

Prophet Joshua also denied ever telling anybody that God did not reveal the death of President Mills to him, otherwise "I would have averted it."

He explained that yesterday was the first time he publicly spoke about the death of the Ghanaian leader.

Prof Mills died at the 37 Military Hospital last Tuesday, after a short illness.

When Mr Samuel Mills was called to speak to the congregation, he spoke for about 30 seconds thanking the church for its prayer support for his father.

Since the death of President Mills, the political class and all Ghanaians have been unanimous in their tributes that he was a great statesman, humble and who would have done great things for the country.

All the political parties have suspended political campaigns in memory of President Mills.
