Zimbabwean striker, Knowledge Musona, netted a brace on Saturday evening as his struggling Belgian side, KV Oostende, edged visiting Waasland-Beveren 4-3 in a thrilling Pro League encounter.

The result provided some much needed relief for Oostende, who had registered just one victory in the previous eight matches, to drift closer to the relegation zone.

Musona scored his first goal on 15 minutes to put Oostende back in front after Waasland forward, Renaud Emond, had cancelled out Michiel Jonckheere's third minute lead.

The visitors were back on level terms again on the stroke of half-time. It was Musona who came to the rescue once more with a neat finish soon after the break as Oostende retook the initiative.

Defender Carl Hoefkens, increased the lead for the home side with a strike on 61 minutes and it was to prove a vital goal as Emond returned to score his second and ensure a tense finish to an absorbing match.

But the headlines inevitably belonged to Musona, who is beginning to find his feet in Belgium after a difficult start.

The 24-year-old, who has now scored three goals in his last three matches, did not need long to establish himself in the Oostende starting line, but goals proved hard to come by.

The former Kaizer Chiefs man did not score in his first five appearances, even suffering the indignity of being red-carded in one of the matches. The red card was later rescinded on appeal.

On Saturday, Musona grabbed his chance with both hands after being deployed as the centre striker. He has often played wide on the right, in the hole behind the striker or deep in midfield.

Despite their recent travails, Oostende still look safe bets to avoid the drop with Saturday's win leaving them a good 11 points off the relegation places.
