HARARE - Zimbabwe Under-20 football team yesterday failed to travel to Angola for the second leg of the African Youth Championship qualifier in Luanda which was supposed to be played today.

The Young Warriors were still at Zifa village last night as the soccer mother body failed to secure guarantees for their tickets.

Zifa chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze confirmed to the Daily News on Sunday that the team could not travel due to financial problems bedevilling the football governing body.

"I have written to Caf and the match commissioner from Zambia. I have also communicated with
Angola's football mother body to explain our predicament.

"Indeed, we know that we might be fined and the issue of being banned could come up, but this was beyond our ability because we are in financial crisis" said Mashingaidze.
