Dyanamos 1-0 CAPS United
A SECOND half volley by midfielder Tawanda Muparati ended 79 minutes of resistance by CAPS United to hand Dynamos a crucial victory and the bragging rights in a tense Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro on Saturday.

Muparati, who edged the derby in favour of Dynamos last season when he came off the bench to slot home the only goal of the match, decided yet another fiery contest again on Saturday.

The former Douglas Warriors midfielder connected a first time volley after his name sake Tawanda Munyanduri headed the ball into his path in a bid to clear it from danger.

The match, played before a full house, saw United controlling the first half with veteran striker Shingi Kawondera, playing his first derby since his return from Cyprus, threatening the Dynamos goal.

The dreadlocked Kawondera showed flashes of brilliance that bellied his rather advanced age before warming the hands of goalkeeper George Chigova with a fierce shot after five minutes.

Again ten minutes later Leonard Fiyado signed from Gunners had a chance but headed over following a good cross from the left by Rahman Kutsanzira.
United were in control in the crucial midfield department with Marvel Samaneka ensuring DeMbare saw very little of the ball.

Even so, Dynamos also had their chances especially in the second half with playmaker Denver Mukamba proving a handful for CAPS United while Cliff Sekete also showed why the champions spent a princely sum when signing him from Gunners.

However, for all their raids, the goal remained stubbornly elusive until late in the second half when Muparati decided the contest with a goal that lifted the reigning champions to fourth position on the league table with 27 points from 13 matches.
