Zimbabwean fans are in for a rare treat this April when African and European stars descend on Harare for a testimonial match in honour of former Warriors captain, Benjani Mwaruwari.

A 40-member provisional list of African and European stars featuring names like Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure, Alex and Rigobert Song, Micheal Essien, Daniel Amokachi, Andy Cole, Surrey Muntari, Bruce Grobbelar, King Kalusha Bwalya, Chris Katongo, Nwanko Kanu and Steven Pieennar among many, is expected to grace the Benjani Mwaruwari testimonial match set for the weekend between May 25 to 27 this year.

The former Warriors skipper is also hoping to plough back into the local game following his acquisition of a property in Bulawayo where an academy named the Benjani Mwaruwari Foundation will be set up.

If successfully held, the testimonial match will be a big endorsement on Zimbabwe's profile on sport and tourism as the African and European stars will tell the story of Zimbabwe from an informed point of view.

Mwaruwari started his career at Lulu Rovers before turning out for University and Air Zimbabwe Jets.

He later played for Jomo Cosmos before being snatched by Grasshoppers of Switzerland.

It was at Auxiere in France though where the Undertaker stood out before Harry Redknamp, then Portsmouth Manager signed him.

He played for Manchester City and Blackburn before returning to Portsmouth.
