Harare Darts Season ends - Best players rewarded

Harare-Harare province darts season ended yesterday after a closely contested season in which three teams interchanged to be on top of the log until the last four games which saw Kutsaga pulling off to take the first spot. Kutsaga had to shrug off stiff competition from Flying Eagles and Jewel Arrows to land the Harare Darts Association league title for a second time running.

Kutsaga lost only two games the whole season amassing 54 points out of 60.It is second time running that the outfit had secured the Harare Darts Association league title in a row earning themselves a ticket to represent Harare Province in the Champions of Champions tournament to be held in February 2016.

The second placed team Flying Eagles also earned their first ticket to represent the province on the national championships. In a move to promote competition and generate interest of darts, all the teams in Harare Darts league were rewarded for their position on the log. The league winners Kutsaga captained by Pearson Gwamanda won themselves a shield, medals and prize money.

It should not go without mention that rookies of the year ZRP Strikers men team stood their ground to acclaim fourth position on the log. This is besides taking part in every final of all the tournaments held in Harare darts league.

Harare Darts Association also rewarded eight of the league‘s best players derived from the singles games they amassed the whole season. Each of the players were awarded prize money for their effort. For the second time running Nyamukapa Patron Fischer of Jewel Arrows pulled through stiff competition to amass 92 singles from 120.For his effort he earned himself a grocery hamper, medal and cash prize. Having a darts experience spanning over twenty years Nyamukapa has seen it all in darts.

Speaking after the prize presentation Mr. Elphacy Dube, Chairperson for Harare Darts Association said ''It is my wish to bring excitement to darts and ensure that darts players derive joy in playing darts in Harare despite the absence of sponsorship. We will ensure that we have something for our darts players on every tournament"

The prize presentation was held alongside the province annual general meeting which saw the province introducing two more competitions for 2016 in the form of Open singles and closed singles. The Chairperson also paid tribute to Mr. Meynard Moyo for his sacrifice in sponsoring the Jewel Cup since time immemorial and has not backed down ever since.
