HIGHLANDERS striker Ralph Matema believes Bosso will be a better team than they were in the last Premier Soccer League season.

Matema rejoined Highlanders in September last year and scored and created crucial goals for Bosso as they lifted themselves out of the relegation zone.

This year, he has already helped Highlanders overcome FC Platinum in a ZNA Charities Shield quarter-final match and is targeting more success this season.

"It's going to be a different season this year. The coaches, players and executive are aiming high this season," he said.

Last season, Highlanders finished on sixth position having flirted with the relegation candidates under Bongani Mafu.

Matema said that he was now a more mature and experienced player than when he first joined Bosso in 2004.

"Back then, I was young and inexperienced. You will realise that when I came back from South Africa, I returned to Highlanders because I love the club. It is nice to play for such a club with a rich history," he said. Matema is one of the key players that will be driving Highlanders' quest to return to championship glory.

Highlanders last won the championship in 2006 under the mentorship of now Bantu Rovers owner Methembe Ndlovu and Matema was part of that group.

Last year, they won the NetOne EasyCall Cup after beating Chicken Inn 1-0.

Matema said they would have to play at their best and their aim was to win everything on offer this season.

"We have to win everything this season and show that we are serious in our quest," he said.

Matema comes as a natural replacement for Obadiah Tarumbwa, who has since joined Chicken Inn, while last season's Golden Boot Award winner Knox Mutizwa is heading for South African Premier League side Bidvest Wits. He could partner either Gabriel Nyoni or Prince Dube in front of goal for Bosso.
