"On behalf of the board I would like to thank Ozias for the years of hard work and dedication that he has given to Zimbabwe Cricket after taking over at a particularly challenging time," ZC board chairperson Peter Chingoka said in a statement.
"I am delighted to confirm that his expertise will not be lost entirely to the game as he accepted our request to be on hand to offer advice and consultation, particularly with matters related to the commercial opportunities in the game. I cannot think of a man better qualified, and more experienced than Wilfred to take over and we are confident that the transition will be seamless."
Chingoka added: "This decision follows months of planning. We have defined our strategic drive and that is to create a sustainable business model for cricket in Zimbabwe. Bvute's experience and strategic input will contribute significantly to that goal."
Bvute also pledged to continue assisting the game.
"I have relished the job for the last few years and I look forward to remaining involved in the years to come, albeit in a different capacity. The game has, and always will occupy a special place in my heart, and I consider it an honour that the board has asked me to stay involved," said Bvute.
"I accepted the position of managing director almost by default, and in difficult times. I have seen our vision to make cricket a sport of mass participation, become a reality, so in that regard my work is done. The next phase is to ensure that our team becomes consistently competitive and I have every confidence in Mukondiwa's ability to take up the challenge."
