Plumtree High School is reportedly to have failed to pay workers for the past 8 months a development which the workers blamed for the abuse of funds by authorities.

A parent who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said the school authorities employ a number of workers under the School Development Association (SDA).

He said for the past 8 months workers have been struggling to survive due to failure by the school to pay them their dues.

"One of the teachers who was employed by the SDA on temporary bases later resigned and later died due to trauma as the school continuously failed to pay him,": said the parent. "

He said it was sad that when the school fails to pay its worker on the other hand it hires expensive lawyers to defend it when ever the workers take it to court.

"This is unfair," said the parent. They are abusing the money. The headmaster recently closed the SDA account so that the school funds are banked in the school government account. All these developments show that there might be misuse of funds and the school needs audit."

Efforts to get comment from the School head and SDA chairman were fruitless.
