Obert Mpofu splashes $180 000 on maize for his constituency

Mines and Mining Development Minister Obert Mpofu has splashed $180 000 to buy maize for his Umguza constituency.

Mpofu who donated 10 tonnes of maize to Ntabazinduna villagers at a rally on Saturday said the maize would be distributed to all the wards in the constituency.

There is feeling though that Mpofu was reacting to Zapu who held a rally in the same area two weeks ago and making sure that he maintains a strangle hold of the constituency.

Pressed to comment after the Ntabazinduna rally, Mpofu said, "well politics is a game of numbers, Zapu were here last week and we are here today. The number of the people who attended Zapu's rally and that of ours is different as ours is higher."

Mpofu told Ntabazinduna villagers that his haulage company Maminza Tours would distribute the maize in all the constituencies' wards.

"We will also repair boreholes in the area so that people can easily access water. The exercise will start soon. Please vote me if you want to see things going. Those who challenge me should also do greater things than me for you to entertain them," said Mpofu.

Mpofu called on schools to stop chasing away orphaned and vulnerable children for failure to pay fees saying he and his wife Sikhanyisiwe would pay for the children.
