War Vets to invade 'idle' Matobo farms around Njelele

War Veterans are at it again in Matobo district of Matabeleland South.

This time they have threatened to invade farms and properties surrounding sacred Njelele shrine.

The veterans claim that there is abundant land that is not utilized in Matobo hence invade it an parcel it out to members.

Matojeni Cultural Society chairman Albert Nyoni claims that the threats were made on May 5.

"War veterans led by one Noworeka Tensi threatened to come back and take some of the Matopos farms claiming there is a lot of land lying idle," said Nyoni.

However, Nyoni said that would not happen and war veterans "must be prepared to bring trucks full of handcuffs to arrest us because we will not allow strangers to violate our peace."

War veterans have in recent past threatened to dug up Cecil John Rhodes grave at Matobo National Park.

They allege that ancestral spirits have instructed them perform cleansing ceremonies at Njelele so as to avoid mysterious deaths.
