A survey by Mass Public Opinion Institute (MPOI) has claimed that three quarters of Zimbabweans have little knowledge about the constitution with women being the majority.

Presenting the November survey results in Bulawayo, MPOI said it was shocking that vast majority of  locals are still ignorant about the governing charter.

"More than three quarters of Zimbabweans do not know about the constitution enacted in the May 2013 to replace the 33 year old Lancaster House Charter.

"Close to one and a half years after this historic event, the latest Afro barometer survey in Zimbabwe reveals that more three quarters of the country's citizens (78%) either know nothing about their national constitution.

"Three out of 10 adult Zimbabweans (30%) indicated that they know 'nothing at all' while almost half (48%) said they know 'little bit' about the new national charter.

"Only one in five (16%) of the respondents said they know the country's supreme law," the report said.

Thirty five % of women interviewed said they know nothing about the constitution with 25% of males also professing ignorance.
