MDC-T Harare spokesperson Obert Gutu has intimated on his Facebook page that member of the party's Guardian Council Sekai Holland could be suffering from a mental condition.

This was after Holland revealed last week that she was arm-twisted to make a statement where the Guardian Council distanced itself from a faction led by secretary general Tendai Biti.

She later disowned the statements saying they were made under duress as she feared violence from youths linked to party president Morgan Tsvangirai.

"I have stated it before and my views are now in the public domain.

"Yes, she might be a respected and respectable elder but after working very closely with her for a number of years when I was the MDC-T chief whip in the Senate of the 7th Parliament of Zimbabwe, my respect for her, I should confess, totally disappeared," Gutu said on his Facebook page in apparent reference to Holland.

"I am not a psychiatrist and so I have absolutely no scientific basis to rule on people's mental condition.

"That said, I have my own very serious reservations about her sanity and mental fortitude. This might sound a very harsh assessment, but then I am never one to shy away from speaking out my mind. I believe in telling it as it is without fear or favour."
