MDC calls for Prospective Candidates applications

THE MDC led by Prof Welshman Ncube has officially invited applications for prospective candidates for the 2013 harmonized general elections, with immediate effect.

The closing date for the receipt of applications for candidates in respect of council, House of Assembly and Senate elections shall be 14 February 2013 at 1600hrs.

Secretary General Priscilla Misihairabwi - Mushonga said in a circular released recently; "The applications must be submitted to the provincial chairperson no later than the said date and time. In turn, the provincial chairpersons must submit copies of all applications received to the Secretary General's office no later than 4pm, 15th February 2013.

Aspiring candidates should have been party members for a period of not less than five years, submit education qualifications and produce membership cards for verification.




According to the party's constitution, candidates should also be fully paid party members, registered voters, not have a criminal record leading to imprisonment of six months or more without the option of a fine and should be competent and solvent.
