Zanu-PF has convened an emergency meeting today (Thursday) in Harare to address law and order in the capital, among other issues.
Zanu-PF secretary for administration Didymus Mutasa told the state controlled Herald that they would talk to the provincial party leadership on the matter.
"We are going to talk to them about the need for law and order in Harare. The meeting will be held at the party office tomorrow (today) in the afternoon," he said.
Harare provincial party spokesperson Claudius Mutero said: "Yes, there will be such meeting tomorrow (today). It's a provincial co-ordinating committee meeting."
He said he was not sure of specific issues that would be discussed.
"I don’t have specific issues to be discussed, but what I know is that it is about the party’s activities in Harare and to prepare ourselves for the referendum and general elections, Mutero said.
Zanu-PF officials expressed concern over lawlessness reportedly caused by some party youths in Harare city.
In July, Mutasa rebuked the provincial leadership in Harare for failing to rein in a Mbare group called Chipangano, believed to be aligned to some party officials that is terrorising commuters and vendors.
Mutasa tasked provincial chairman Amos Midzi to deal with the group as it was tarnishing the name of the party.
"Midzi, if you tell me that you don’t know that group, I will tell you that you are lying. Instead, I want to know what is not ending it."
Mutasa said the group’s mischievous conduct cost the party during elections.
On Monday, police questioned Zanu-PF youth chairman for Harare province Jimu Kunaka over allegations of taking part in the shooting of municipal policemen demolishing illegal car sales.
Kunaka and a woman identified as Mrs Midzi were summoned by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department Law and Order Section to Harare Central Police Station for questioning.
