Woman sleeps with neighbour thinking its her hubby

A Mount Darwin woman got the shock of her life after she mistook a neighbour for her husband and became intimate with him.

The woman only realised the grave mistake after she felt tufts of hair on the man's head.

Her husband was clean shaven.

The neighbour, Michael Dumbura of Mutemamombe Village, was subsequently jailed for 14 years after he was convicted of rape.

According to court records, the incident occurred on the night of April 7 this year.

It is understood the woman's husband went to attend a memorial service in the same village while his wife remained behind, fast asleep.

Dumbura, apparently forced his way into the house where he had sexual intercourse with the woman under the cover of darkness.

He later bolted out of the room after the suspicious victim lit a match stick.

The matter was reported at Mukumbura police base, leading to his arrest on April 13.

Last week, he appeared before Bindura regional magistrate Mr William Bhila, who sentenced him to 14 years' imprisonment.
