The retail sector has been hit by a shortage of Mazoe Orange Crush and locally brewed clear beer.

However prices of basic commodities have remained stable, with sugar supplies slowly increasing.

The price of most basic commodities remains unchanged with the only shortages being the supply of Mazoe Orange Crush, supposedly due to shortage of juice and locally brewed clear beer which has been attributed to the break-down of machinery at the bottling plant.

Sugar which has been in short supply over the past few weeks is slowly becoming visible on the shelves.

The commodity is selling at an average price of $2,50 per 2 kilogrammes for both the brown and white varieties.

Mealie-meal remains unchanged at between $4,65 to $5,05 per 10kg bag of roller meal, while refined meal is being sold at between $5,05 and $6,95.

A 20 kg bag of roller meal is pegged at around $10.00.

A 2 kilogramme packet of rice is selling at between $1,85 and $3,45.

Flour prices still range from $1,80 to $3,25 for a 2kg pack, while margarine is pegged at between $2,45 and $2,75 for 500 grammes.

Cooking oil brands range between $3,65 and $5,15 up from $ 3,50 to $4,90 per 2 litres.

Beef costs between $4,00 and $6,20 for the commercial grade, while other high grades cost up to $8,00 per kilogramme.

Laundry soap is pegged at an average $1,70 a kilogramme, with local brands going for the same price for 500g and 750g bars.

A 500 gramme packet of washing powder costs between $1,50 and $2,50.

Milk remains at between 75 cents and 80 cents per pint.
