A self-proclaimed Nyazura prophet who claimed to see visions concerning his victim was last week arrested for raping a 20-year-old woman. The suspect, Lovemore Madhuku (from Manicaland), allegedly committed the offence after his love proposal was turned down and raped the woman (name withheld) once.

Police confirmed the incident and said Madhuku was arrested and is assisting police with investigations. Police said Madhuku went to the victim's house looking for his ex-girlfriend.

"He kept on knocking, but no one answered until he knocked at the victim's window demanding ti see his girlfriend. The victim told him that his ex-girlfriend was not around before he forcibly pushed the door open and entered. While inside, Madhuku told the victim that he had seen some visions since he was an anointed prophet."

"He said he wanted to reveal the visions to her. He proposed love to the victim, but she turned him down. Madhuku grabbed the victim, pushed her onto the bed before raping her once and vanished," said the acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Enock Chisiri.
