Makokoba constituency candidate, Rtd colonel Tshinga Dube, on Monday invited churches to pray for him to win the seat that has eluded him for the past two decades.

About 18 local churches were represented during a poorly-attended rally at Stanley Square where VP Phelekezela Mphoko was the guest of honour.

Tshinga Dube has roped in Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Highlanders FC on his campaigns trail.

Dube has made two unsuccessful attempts to land the seat, in 2008 and 2013.

He is due to stage a star rally at Barbourfields Stadium on June 6  and is expected to hand over a bus to  Highlanders.

This would be just four days before the polling day.

Mnangagwa is expected to officiate at the event.

Dube will battle it out with Mable Ngwenya of the NCA, Wilson Peter of Mavambo Kusile Dawn, Sibangilizwe Msipa an independent, Joan Dhlodlo an independent, Jonathan Ndlovu of ZAPU and Sehlelo Nkomo of Transform Zimbabwe.

Highlanders FC has already sent out invites.

Dube's representative told a Bosso press briefing today that all is set for the 'big event'.

Bosso recently engaged the government in a bid to avoid paying duty for the bus which was bought with the assistance of club benefactor Tshinga Dube.

Highlanders gave Dube $20 000, which was their prize money from the Bob89 tournament and he added $25 000 and purchased a Marcopolo bus which is now stuck in South Africa as the Bulawayo giants struggle to raise import duty.
