The body of the late Vice President, Landa John Nkomo has arrived in Bulawayo from his rural home in Tsholotsho.
After arrival, the body, which is accompanied by family members and senior government officials, was taken to Nkomo's place of residence in Worringham where hundreds of people had gathered to pay their respects.
In his remarks, family spokesperson, Mr Sipepa Nkomo extended the family gratitude to President Robert Mugabe for according Vice President Nkomo the highest honour in the land.
He said the family feels humbled by the hero status accorded to Nkomo.
Speaking at the same occasion, Zanu PF National Chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo, who is leading a team of Politburo members, thanked the people of Bulawayo for their support, saying the huge turnout demonstrates that Vice President Nkomo was a man of the people.
After the body viewing at his home, there will be a public send off at the Large City Hall before the body leaves for Harare this Sunday where it will lie in state at the late Vice President's Milton Park home.
On Monday morning, Nkomo's body will be taken to Stodart Hall in Mbare before burial at the National Heroes Acre. John Landa Nkomo
