'Emulate the late Dr Joshua Nkomo'

Zanu-PF Secretary for Youth Affairs Absolom Sikhosana has urged youths to emulate the deeds of the late Vice President, Joshua Nkomo, who was a great freedom fighter and liberator in contributing the country’s independence.

The late Vice President died on the 1st of July in 1999.

Sikhosana said Nkomo made great sacrifices in ensuring the country's independence and its development since colonial times.

This he said is one of the good nationalism qualities which youths must emulate in order to safeguard the goals of the liberation struggle.

He said: "The late Vice President was a great liberator who stood in for the rights of black Zimbabweans. Our youths today lack that sacrificial spirit which they must show in order to defend the country's sovereignty."

The 1st of July has become an important day on the country’s calendar as the nation remembers the passing on of Vice President Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo.

Although the late freedom fighter and nationalist is no more, he has left a legacy that cannot be forgotten especially his fight for the independence of Zimbabwe.
