Robert Nyathi seems to be an avid lover of darkness and does not report home before sun set. Because of that, he has been having problems with his wife who after numerous attempts to whip him into line failed, thought it was wise to seek reinforcements. This, however, came in the form of her mother, Sithabile Sithole.
It is reported that on Wednesday last week, Nyathi left home in the morning. As per his norm he returned home deep into the night. With her mission being to help knock sense into Nyathi's head, Sithole joined the chorus that has for years been her daughter's not so favourite song. Nyathi would have none of it. This is said to have gone down well with his wife who accused him of disrespecting her mother.
From there on a misunderstanding arose which resulted in the trio trading bitter words. A war of wards ensued thereafter with the two women taking turns to undress Nyathi. Realising that was no MATCH for the mother and daughter team, Nyathi decided to shut his mouth. With harsh words continuing to RAIN on his ears, Nyathi came to a decision that he had consumed enough and turned the affair physical.
He is alleged to have clobbered his mother-in-law telling her that it was punishment for TALKING TOO MUCH. His wife could do nothing but wail, begging him to stop the assault. After handing his mother-in-law the thumping, Nyathi chucked her out out of his house. The woman spent the rest of the night at a neighbour's house with her daughter who had also run away from her matrimonial home in fear of receiving similar 'KUNG-FU' treatment.
They reported the alleged assault to the police the following morning. Nyathi was nabbed and appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Mr Richard Ramaboea. He was remanded out of custody to 28 May on $50 bail.
