Will the Zimbabwe election losers accept defeat? Live Discussion

Zimbabweans voted on Wednesday in a fiercely contested election pitting President Robert Mugabe against Morgan Tsvangirai, Welshman Ncube, Dumiso Dabengwa and Kisinoti who have vowed to push Africa's oldest leader into retirement after 33 years in power.

All sides are forecasting landslide wins but, in a country with a history of election violence, the bigger question is whether the loser will accept the result of a poll dogged by logistical problems and allegations of vote-rigging.

Polls opened on time at 7:00 AM across the country, with long queues of people braving a bout of unseasonably cold weather to stand in line from well before dawn.

I can tell u that this discussion is of no use, because Cde Mugabe and his friends are not ready to hand over power if they loose, but as f o PM Tsvangirai we cant say much because he won in 2008,but was denied his chance to fail.so as long as the election is being by Zanu Pf agents, there is no way Mugabe will loose.

It will only us Zimbabweans to blame if Zanupf 'returns' power. I fail to understand what voters expect to get from Zanupf after 33 years of failure.

The loser must accept defeat and the country has to move forward. If the playing field is not level then those complaining should not have entered the race in the first place. Um not sure what will happen to those journalists who are with the state press & defence chiefs in the even that of a ZANU PF loss.

Why call for early elections then release the voters' roll less than 24hrs bfor the polls open? Smthn fishy here. I smell rigging. Zanu PF knows they are now irrelevant to the future of this nation. Away with them! How can a sane party field a 90yr old candidate?

Mugabe has already rigged these elections and it is obvious that Tsvangirai wont accept the result. Its a war.
