President Robert Mugabe has arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran to attend the 16th Non-Aligned Movement summit.
The President was welcomed at the Tehran’s International Airport by Zimbabwean Ambassador to Iran, Mr Nicholas Kitikiti, Foreign Affairs Minister, Simbarashe Mumbengegwi and Media, Information and Publicity Secretary, George Charamba.
Among many global topics to be discussed at the summit are the Syrian crisis, human rights and nuclear disarmament.
Leaders from 120 countries are in the Iranian capital to attend the summit, which will be opened tomorrow by Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Iran will take over the leadership role in the movement from Egypt for the next three years.
The United Nation’s Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is expected to attend the six-day summit despite protests from America and Israel urging the UN head not to attend the event.
Meanwhile, Vice President Joice Mujuru is the Acting President.
