The Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education says it is committed to ensuring the provision of quality and sustainable tertiary education and training through public and private partnership.

In a speech read on his behalf at the Bulawayo Polytechnic College at a graduation and prize giving ceremony, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Dr Washington Mbizvo said his ministry aims to provide an effective system for the production of highly competent human capital.

Dr Mbizvo said the ministry adopted education for sustainable development in its 2011 to 2015 strategic plan.

He noted that education for sustainable development is a multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral process where people learn to make decisions that take into consideration the future of the economy and social wellbeing of the society.

Dr Mbizvo said the education for all policy adopted by government soon after independence in 1980 has gone a long way in ensuring that the majority of Zimbabweans are empowered.

Meanwhile, the graduands received certificates after completing various courses that included Library and Information Science, Motor Vehicle Mechanic and Science Technology.
