Zimbabwean celebrity representative in Big Brother Stargame, Roki, has attributed his misdemeanours in matters of the heart to the strength of women, while paying tribute to Pauline Gundidza.Pauline is Roki's on-and-off wife.
In a heart-to-heart talk with Nigerian housemate, Goldie, last Thursday, Roki, real name Rockford Josphats, spoke at length about his relationships and how he met some of the women in his life.
Goldie, who was marinating fish looked relaxed and gently probed Roki.
Roki said he was attracted to Pauline whom he interchangeably called "baby mama" and "wife number one" because she is as strong willed as him.
The Oxford English dictionary defines baby mama as "the mother of a man's child, who is not his wife or in most cases not his current or exclusive partner".
Referring to her temper, he said she was one woman he could not tame saying being in her life was "like riding a wild horse".
He talked about how he met her as a school girl and how their relationship was turbulent from the start.
Though he did not say the name, he said Mr Big Producer, who Pauline worked with on her first project, asked her out even though he knew Roki was going out with her. The producer that Pauline, together with Tunga T and Discord worked with on their first album was Tatenda Jenami, popularly known as Take 5. Roki also worked with Take 5 on a number of projects before he left Chamhembe.
He said this confused Pauline who was becoming attracted to the producer.
"It's ok. I got over it," he said.
The controversial singer also told Goldie that it was difficult to really let go of Pauline because she was the only woman who knew what made him tick.
He also revealed why he had an off-and-on relationship with her, while some women come and go out of his life permanently, saying she fights for what she believes in and was very territorial.
"After the break-up instead of saying that she wants me in her life, due to her pride she phones and says I owe her family money (lobola) and the kids want food.
"If she gets wind that I am seeing someone she tracks me down and makes a scene. She is a warlord that one. She can fight both physically and emotionally. She goes all out."
He said as a result the woman he was seeing after their first break-up could not stand the drama and after bearing two children she left.
"Some people cannot stand that kind of pressure, so she cut," he said.
"Cut" is street lingo for leaving.
The artiste said he met this woman after a fall out with Pauline.
Roki said after that there was a lot of talk about his messy life in the press and after going out of town for a show he met another girl and they fell in love.
The artiste said after the stories and the drama in his life he felt dirty and ugly and wanted something to take his mind off that.
He said women are strong and it is easy to be caught in their web. "You feel ugly and you need someone to hold you and tell you that everything is going to be fine," he said.
Roki said he met a "girl from a decent family who did not have the drama of a metropolitan drama queen".
He said it was with his woman that he had a son and he named him Josphats.
"This girl said I had given my other child from my second wife the name Rockford, so her child should also get my name. That is how I came up with the name Josphats, which is my surname, to appease her. So his name is Josphats Josphats," he said.
According to him, this incensed Pauline who bore him female children, Sky and Minana.
The manner in which he spoke about Pauline, showed that Roki still holds her in high regard. However, his roving eye has been his biggest let down.
"She takes my breath away. When she sings I freeze like a homeless Eskimo. Up to today I can't think straight when we are in the same room."
He also talked about a woman before Pauline, who had his first child and left him because she felt he was poor and could not provide for her.
