HARARE - Multi-talented broadcaster and one-man comedian Nqobile Malinga's dream is to become a successful musician.

Malinga recently won a National Arts Merit Award (Nama) for the Outstanding Arts Reporter and is currently working on a music album which he says will motivate people.

Malinga, who has been working at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) for 10 years, has another passion to learn languages.

He speak more than 10 languages including Shona, Ndebele, Kalanga, Sotho, Xhosa, Shangani and English among others. At the moment he is learning French and Portuguese and hope before year end he will be fluent in all of them.

Being a broadcaster also compliments the passion he likes in the arts industry.

He attended journalism school at BES College in Bulawayo and completed the course at Christian College of Southern Africa (CCOSA).

The ZBC producer/presenter began his journey with the broadcaster in 2001 and believes that his job contributed more to his artistic dreams.

He has worked with Q Montana and other artists in his journey to become a solo artist.

With ZBC he has worked at National FM and Radio Zimbabwe where he was a producer/ presenter.

As a newscaster with ZBC, he uses Ndebele and Shona and there are times when he reads Kalanga news.

Speaking on the Nama award, Malinga said it was an honour for him to finally receive the award.

Through his travels in different countries and also associating with different artists, Malinga feels he has something good that he can offer the people.

He has worked on the project with Mt Zion Records in Chitungwiza.

For the past seven years he has been performing in Botswana at the Domboshaba Festival of History.
