MKHULULI "MK" Bhebhe, one of the best musical talents to emerge from Bulawayo is settling in well at his new base in South Africa where he is now part of the multi award-winning gospel project, Joyous Celebration.
Bhebhe has the now defunct CBZ "A" Academy talent search show to thank after it exposed his music gift and offered him the opportunity to announce his arrival to the music industry.
The 26-year-old was a finalist in the 2007 edition of the competition which was won by Joseph Lugube.
A firm believer in God and a dedicated Christian, Bhebhe would not have missed the opportunity to be part of one of the best Gospel project in the whole of Africa for anything in the world.
In an interview, Bhebhe said it was an honour for him to be part of the Joyous Celebration family.
"It is such an honour to work with Joyous Celebration. When I arrived for rehearsals for the first time Patrick Duncan, one of the artists, said he always thought he could not sing until he came to join Joyous Celebration. I can testify to that because there is so much talent in this group," said Bhebhe.
Like any other Christian family, there is so much love and unity in the group and this has helped Bhebhe find his feet.
Of this he said, "There is so much love within the group.
"No member has said a spiteful word to me.
"Instead we encourage each other a lot and perfect each other's ideas because when one of us stands in front to lead a song it is not only about that person but the whole group."
Joyous Celebration recorded their 15th album on Friday and Saturday in Durban.
Bhebhe hinted that he might be leading some of the songs and we have to wait for the album launch to find out.
"I don't want to go ahead of myself just yet but don't be surprised to see me leading some of the songs when the DVD comes out.
"All I say is that you will thoroughly enjoy our 15th album," said Bhebhe.
He also hinted that the new album might feature some songs in Shona and Ndebele and will feature a broad range of musicians representing different races.
Of this he said, "One thing that makes Joyous Celebration so successful is the diversity of cultures all harvested into one group.
"There is so much beauty when cultures come together."
A solo album is already in the pipeline for the ambitious and determined Bulawayo boy who says he loves his country and family so much.
Bhebhe is inspired by music legends from different music genres such as Oliver Mtukudzi, Marvin Sapp, Jonathan Butler, Leonard Dembo, Ringo Madlingozi, Lovemore Majaivana and Solly Mahlangu. His forthcoming album promises to be one to look out for.
Bhebhe had a nasty experience a few weeks back when he was robbed of his belongings but says in all that, he has found comfort in that God is in control of his life
