Female kwaito artiste Charity "Chets" Mpala will tomorrow officially launch her debut album Z'shubile in the city. She describes the album as the story of her life.

Last year the 22-year-old launched the same album in Victoria Falls and wants to officially launch it in the City of Kings.

The album has tracks such as Impilo Yami and Ushonile that chronicle the struggles she faced growing up.

The launch will be done at Walkers Pub during the weekly Big on Friday slot, hosted by DJ Joe the OG.

In an interview yesterday, Chets said she chose kwaito because she grew up in the ghetto and knows the lifestyle.

She said she took her time to release the album so that she produces a perfect product for the market.

"I chose kwaito because I grew up in the ghetto and I know how it is to live there. I started recording seriously in 2008 and it took me all this time because I wanted to give people nothing but the best," said the Nkulumane-born Chets.

She said because of her busy schedule she was not able to launch her album in the city.

"The launch of the album has been on the cards but I have been busy with other shows. I have come from a winter break and I thought I would start with a launch in Bulawayo before I go on a tour. My tour will also take me to South Africa and Windhoek, Namibia, in October," said Chets.

She promised a night to remember during her performance as she was a gifted singer and dancer.

"I am the queen and honestly I have been gifted by the Almighty to sing and dance. I cannot reveal much but I will not disappoint on stage," said Chets.

She thanked her family and all those who supported her musical career.

Joe the OG said the night was the beginning of the summer programme that would involve the support of local artistes.

He said other acts such as Maskiri, POY and Centre Party were billed to perform in the near future.

"This is the beginning of the summer programme for us. Chets is a good singer and I wish her the best at her launch. In the near future we will have other acts such as Maskiri, POY and Centre Party," said Joe.
