DJ Fresh confirms Bulawayo gig

Popular South African house and 5FM's DJ Fresh will this Saturday night invade the City of Kings and perform at Sports 747.

The show is billed to be one to remember as he will dish out latest and popular house tunes for fans in Bulawayo.

Last year DJ Fresh put up a five-star performance at Bar Labhala which is popularly known as Visions Night Club.

In an interview yesterday, Sports 747 productions spokesperson, Tshilidzi Muleya said all was set for the DJ Fresh show and urged fans to come in their numbers.

He said there was enough parking and there would be tight security.

"We have enough parking. Security has been beefed up and we have improved the sound to ensure our clients get value for their money.

"We value our customers and have ensured that they are not disappointed so everything is well arranged. Fans can prepare to meet their idol and we are certain they will be very pleased with both the organisation of the show and DJ Fresh's performance," said Muleya.

He said tents will be pitched and the venue has more lawn to reduce dust. Last year in June revellers left the venue covered in dust during the DJ C'ndo and Kent show.

"We have pitched tents for the show. There is more lawn at the venue so as to avoid the situation we had last year when there was no lawn and fans complained about the dust at the venue," said Muleya.

He said there would be local Djs and groups that would warm up the crowd for Big Dawg.

"DJs Cris, Mendoza, Emitty Smooth, X-Facta, Cool J and Mark Vusani will thrill the crowd before Fresh comes on stage. Kasi Lunatics will also perform as supporting acts," said Muleya.

When this reporter tweeted Big Dawg about the show he confirmed that it was on.

Born Thato Sikwane, DJ Fresh started out on radio in Botswana in the early 1990s and from the minute he was shown the studio microphone he knew that broadcasting was the only career for him.

He subsequently dropped his law studies and pursued radio full-time, joining YFM in 1997. Fresh was heading up the YFM breakfast team by 2003 and was quickly snapped up by 5FM in 2006 where the Fresh Drive has since become a 5FM institution as well as one of the station's most popular shows.

His first four house albums the Fresh House Flava range are said to have altered the house landscape in South Africa, bringing the genre into the mainstream music scene.
