ALICK "Extra Basso" Macheso on Friday night took the crowd down memory lane as he remembered the late Andy "Muzukuru" Brown at his show held at the Amphitheatre.

Macheso sang a rendition of Mapurisa which was popular on the music scene. The more than 1 000 fans that had gathered at the venue joined Macheso in singing the song. A light-skinned reveller joined Macheso on stage and his dreadlocks gave him a striking resemblance to the late Muzukuru, leaving the revellers speculating that he was the son of the late musician. Macheso went on to play Kudzimamoto.

The absence of controversial dancer and former street kid Peter Kagomera still continues after his arrest.

Kagomera was arrested for allegedly biting a police officer in a bid to avoid arrest at Chillers Bottle Store at Ziko Shopping Centre in Chitungwiza on 30 June.

Although he was not there it seemed that the performance two weeks ago by Sungura Masters at Macheso's show in Esigodini spurred his dance group to have new dance routines.

They did the Borrowdale and the new dance Tora Bute which had been missing from their routines of late. The crowd, led by Macheso ,did the Zorai butter in many instances of the show.

Raunchy dance group, Girls La Musica, gave a cameo performance during Macheso's break with some fans joining them on stage to do the Borrowdale.

Macheso got on stage at 11.53pm and belted out Madawu, much to the excitement of the crowd.

He went on to perform songs such as Maduve, Tariro, Chimoko Changu, Chikwambo, Wemakonzo, among others, and wrapped up the show with the ever-popular Tafadzwa.

Earlier, the Sounds of Muddy Face had kept the revellers on the dance floor.

The show ended at about 4.30am and fans said they had a good time.

"We had a good time and I have been following Macheso from Jabula Inn and those boys who danced today did a better performance. We want Peter to come back, we miss him a lot," said a man who only identified himself as Foroma.
