WORKERS Treger Products (Pvt) Limited whose subsidiaries are Kango Products, Treger Plastics, Monarch Steel and Zimbabwe Grain Bag have been hard hit by massive employment grades reduction and salaries slash amid out cry from the affected employees.

Some employees from the stabled said the salaries and grades reduction was effected this month end as they had pay slips which showed that their grades had been downgraded while their salaries were cut by over $70.

"I have been working for the company for the past 28 years and I was grade B3 but this month has downgraded me to grade B1," said a worker who chose to remain anonymous.

"In August and September I was getting a gross salary of $440, 80 and a net $335, 00 and this month (October) they have reduced my gross salary to $350 with my net salary standing at $264."

The workers said Treger products has numerous transfers of employees from one subsidiary to the other where they had made to maintain their grades and pay levels, but last month (September) management called the employees where they advised that the company wanted to reduce their salaries and down grade them.

"They told us that we will be made to sign for the downgraded levels saying if we refuse we will be fired. But I refused to sign and look at what they have done. Having not signed still they slashed my salary. Is this the reward for my long service at the company?" fumed the employee.
