Many stories have been written by the private media and a plethora of them are being written and posted on the social media depicting that the President has ruined the country through his leadership. The so-called political analysts and commentators are failing to realize that President Mugabe is and has been the undisputed leader of Zimbabwe.

President Robert Mugabe does not backtrack on his principles, policies and ideology. He is known for having refused racist stereotypes that Africa is lost without European sympathy as some enthusiastic misguided charlatans would like the world to believe. These are the personalities in the like of Morgan Tsvangirai and his supporters who are the agents of regime change.

In pursuit of development, Zimbabweans must embrace all the people oriented policies that President Mugabe has set aside to economically empower the majority. The man has refused to be among some African leaders who are agents of the looting of African resources. Some people have gone to the extent of lamenting where the country would go to without personalities like President Mugabe.

The exceptional leadership qualities of President Mugabe and proclaimed international statesmanship manifested itself in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly sessions where he has often stood his ground in complete defiance of Zimbabwe's erstwhile colonizers. Some Western government leaders have gone to the extent of advocating that organizers of such events should not allocate time to give the President a chance to speak; thus fearing that the man would be on the lime light, thereby stealing the show.

The recent praise and admiration of President Mugabe by the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, speaks volumes. He said that he is impressed by the President's wealth of knowledge about politics and deep insight on history. The Prime Minister was impressed by President Mugabe's statesmanship and the manner he managed Africa's issues as the AU Chairman.

We should cherish that we are being led by a man of principles who have been recognized and well received by many academics, politicians and people from all walks of life in the world. It is like the old adage where it is said that a prophet is not respected in his home area but by people from afar. In reality it is only the political malcontents who are always criticizing the President.

All in all, Africa must take heed of his policies that seek to promote unity, peace and development. Long live President Mugabe for age comes with wisdom.
